Programs
A 20-week Professional Program designed to help transition college undergraduates into full-time Global Technology roles. A Pro’s journey is comprised of personalized training based on career track, ample networking opportunities, leadership lunch-and-learns, professional development sessions, and social philanthropic activities. Additionally, a robust and supported capstone project provides Pro’s with an opportunity to dive deep into a project to explore, analyze, and present to senior management.
The MTU Internship is a ten-week paid program where Interns collaborate on real business projects for Global Technology teams, attend weekly professional development sessions, network, and enjoy social and philanthropic events during a robust onboarding experience. Each intern is paired with a mentor to provide guidance and feedback. In addition, an innovative group challenge provides interns the opportunity to present a technological business concept idea to senior leadership at the culmination of the program.
The MTU Internship is 10 weeks long starting in early June and ending in early August. The first week comprises onboarding, orientation, networking events, trainings and guest speakers from the business. During the Internship experience, interns will participate in weekly professional development sessions while having the opportunity to attend networking and social activities.
Interns participate in weekly professional development sessions that provide the opportunity to hear from different business leaders and the variety of departments within our company.
Professionals will be immersed in group-based training that teaches executive presentation skills, business acumen skills and technical skills.
At MetLife, we have the MTU Alumni Council (MAC) that is comprised of MTU alum who have completed the Professional Program (and many times also the Internship Program). They act as mentors and go-to resources. Interns and Professionals will also have access to a variety of social and professional events that offer opportunities for professionals to connect with others for mentorship.
The Hiring Manager will provide a summer project that interns will work on for the 10-week duration. This project will present a real business need with business impact upon completion.
Interns will be collaborating with each other on a robust Innovation Challenge Project that they will be present at the culmination of the program to senior leadership. This Challenge will give interns the opportunity to explore the different areas of our business, network with subject matter experts, and creatively think of innovative ways MetLife can continue to excel in our industry.
MetLife will not assist financially with relocation; however we do provide incoming Interns and Pros with a variety of resources to help connect them with the different housing options.
MTU offers multiple locations to both Interns and Professional applicants interested in working in one of our other technology hubs in the US, however, roles are primarily offered in our GTO Hub in Cary, NC. MTU Interns who successfully complete the Internship Program are eligible for the MTU Professional Program, which is our full-time early in career program for recent college undergraduates.
Participants in the Professional Program will experience an array of training and development sessions. These sessions will be group-based and individual-based involving communication training, business acumen development, and technical skills development.
MTU will provide social and professional opportunities for Interns and Pros to network with employees and leaders in the company.
Interview Process
Applications will be reviewed once the application deadline has passed and candidates are contacted via email for a first round interview. All interviews will be held via video Webex call (or phone). Within a few weeks, final round interviews will conducted with hiring managers via video Webex call (or phone). A decision will be communicated in the weeks that follow.
Interviews are 30-minutes long with final round interviews lasting up to one hour.
Interviews will consist of behavioral and technical based questions. We recommend utilizing the STAR methodology format for responses in the interview.
Interviews are a combination of both technical and behavioral. Both kinds may be asked to test your knowledge and utilization of your technical skills (if applicable to the role for which you are interviewing).
For candidates, we recommend reviewing our company website and conducting their own research to ensure a basic understanding of our company, our products, and our values. Candidates can also prepare any specific questions that they may have for the interviewer regarding the role, qualifications, or company.
For those applying for the MTU Internship, the final round may include a group case-study interview.
Yes, if a candidate is currently studying abroad during the interview process then all interviews will be held virtually.
